Farmers Count Losses as Naira swap policy Crisis deepens

As the current Naira redesign policy is negatively impacting all sectors of the economy; farmers have began to count their losses, estimated to be in the region of several millions of naira.

The Chief Executive Officer of Green Sahara Farms, Jos, Plateau State, Suleiman Dikwa, told The Guardian that the estimated loss at the local level, taking the average market revenue per market in the northeast runs into about N400m for Potiskum, Yobe State grain markets – markets for beans, maize and millet.

  • Sequel to the observed rising food inflation across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, last week declared a State of Emergency on Food Security to ameliorate the sufferings of Nigerians.

    The highlight of the policy include the re-introduction of the National Commodity Board to review food prices; protection of farmers and farmlands; immediate release of fertilisers and grains to farmers and households to mitigate the effects of the fuel subsidy removal and inclusion of all matters pertaining to food and water availability and affordability under the purview of the National Security Council, among others.

FG lauds GSF for Fighting Deforestation through Landscape Regeneration

The federal government has appluaded Green Sahara Farm for its commitment in regenerating forest area in the country. The Minister of State for Environment, Barr. Sharon Ikeazor, via her twitter handle @sharon_ikeazor commended the farm for the their effort and activities towards regeneration of landscapes

Nigeria is said to have lost 96 percent of her primary forest leading to desertification, loss of ecosystem, loss of biodiversity,, degradation, soil erosion, and lost of livelyhoods among others.
