Kinesiology may be understood as a system of holistic/natural healthcare which combines muscle monitoring with the principles of Chinese medicine to assess energy and body function, applying a range of gentle yet powerful healing techniques to improve health, well-being and vitality. The practitioner will put your arms and legs in different positions and test by applying light pressure to them. The program prepares students to become professionals in various specializations, including teaching physical education in a public school system, exercise sports science, pre-allied health, or sport management. As a Kinesiology major, you'll study the behavioral, historical, mechanical, physiological, psychological and sociological foundations of exercise and sport.

The beauty of kinesiology lies in the ability to communicate with the immense wisdom of your body intelligence through the muscle testing technique. Kinesiology is a therapy which uses gentle muscle testing to obtain bio feedback from your body intelligence to decipher what factors are involved in your health problem. It seems wise to follow the advice of author Anita Johnston, who suggests that when it comes to dieting and eating disorders, we should abandon the idea that food is the problem or that calorie counting is the answer. Topics include a full assessment of nutrients, digestion, comparison of food guides, eating disorders, body composition and management, nutrition for sports, and popular trends and myths.

For a long term solution, if we can understand and work with the aspects of why and when and under what circumstances we eat more then we need to stay healthy and at a healthy weight, we can more easily, even quite unconsciously, make lifestyle changes that will ultimately lead to and maintain a healthy weight.

No applicant will be admitted to the program until a member of the Health and Exercise Sciences faculty has agreed to supervise the thesis research; thus, applicants are strongly urged to identify and contact a potential research supervisor prior to beginning an application.
